Windy City Divers do well at Nationals

There were 9 divers from Windy City who qualified for the USA Diving Junior National Championships in Orlando, Fl July 31 through August 9th.

Harrison Nolan and Owen Hren qualified in the 11 & under age-group events.  Harrison placed 8th in both the  1 & 3 meter events. Owen placed 26th on the 3 meter event, 30th on 1 meter, and 30th on platform as well.

Kevin Sullivan, Zack Mega, and Jacob Hedberg qualified in the 14-15 age-group events.Jacob placed 16th in the 1 meter event, and was also 16th in the 3m prelim event (the top 12 qualified onto the semi-finals).  Zack was 23rd in the 1 meter prelim event, 29th in the 3 meter event, and 22nd on platform.  Kevin was 17th in the prelims on 1 meter, 21th on 3 meter, and finished 19th in the platform event.

In the 16-18 age-group, Joey Cifelli, Maxim Royzen, and Sydney Dusel competed in the meet.  Sydney competed in the 1 meter event and placed 6th in the prelims and moved onto the semi final event where she finished 22nd.  Maxim competed in the 1 meter event and finished 30th in the prelims, was 11th in the prelims for 3 meter and moved onto the semi final event and finished 31st overall.  On platform he placed 17th in the prelim event.  Joey competed in the 1 meter event and finished 9th, and on 3 meter his final place was 7th.

Zayne Danielwicz qualified for nationals but chose not to compete in the meet.

Overall the team did very well and in the final team standings, the team was 32nd in the country and was the highest placing team from Illinois.
